About this project

Made from ~90 year old piñon boards that were used as shelves in the garage of the house I moved into in Albuquerque. These three pieces were the brackets holding one of the two shelves. Though they're incredibly sturdy, I knew I would eventually want to replace them with more flexible storage. Before I had the time to do that, one of the brackets split under the weight of some floor tile that the previous owner had stored on the shelf.

While I was taking down the shelves I felt an odd sort of reverence for them, for the decades they had hung there, just holding things. I thought they should have a memorial so made one with them. The one bound with hemp twine is the one that split.
