I ended up here through a series of twitter curiosities. Pardon the intrusion :|
I agree, Speed Racer is gonna be very interesting. I've seen a few previews and they kinda get me all crazy to go watch the originals. I wonder if there is an abridged version.
Was "Cool Beans" made popular by the series?
For some reason the motions the actor playing Speed Racer I can't get out of my head. When chim-chim and his little buddy (haha) are found stowing away in the trunk of his car he does this silly head bob like thing. It's so stuck in my head that the only way to release it will be to watch the movie.
I prefer to think of my comment count as "sparse, in a modernist sort of way" instead of "sad", but thanks for the help.
Yeah, I'm curious about some of the motion, too. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wachowskis were doing some kind of fancy-pants computer motion stuff to make it a little more surreal.
I saw it and liked it. It was EXACTLY like a cartoon. Like the Star Wars movies, only more high tech. And strangely long. The sequence of the kid and the chimp driving all over is a great callback to that surreal scene in the cartoon where they do the same thing.
I liked it. At least, better than the 3rd Matrix movie (blech).
I thought it was FANTASTIC, Rob. The Ws hit the nail on the head. I can only assume that anyone who didn't like the movie didn't like the TV series either.

Your comment count was sad. I'm upping it a bit.
