Temple Burn

I didn’t stay at Burning Man for the burning of the temple on Sunday. Next time I certainly will. A friend who did stay for it described it thusly: “it was fucking amazing. quiet and very slow”. I just bet it was. Look at the bigger sizes to get a better idea of what’s going on. There isn’t really a reference for the size of the temple comlex, but on the left hand side of the picture as you’re looking at it, the smallest temple all the way out had a roofline that was probably eight to ten feet high.

John Maeda has a series of screenshots comparing the evolution of Google and Yahoo! from 1996 to now. It’s an interesting comparison, and he says up front that it’s not an exhaustive study, but one thing that isn’t mentioned is that from the beginning, Yahoo! was a categorized index first, then a search engine.
